Dunlin

When we were up at the Butt of Lewis I was standing by a wee lochan (about which I posted earlier today) when I realised that there were a lot of Dunlin around the edges having a feed.  As I stood there one little chap or chappess came within three or four metres of me and seemed totally unconcerned by my snapping away:

  1. The forth one is a gem. I've not seen any this summer but then I've ignored the seaside.

  2. Beautiful. ;^) Reminds me of hawk feathers in the last photo as he's flying away....

  3. Bird unknown to me (until now)... Beautiful pictures. I'm thrilled even when it's a common mallard that lets me get that close to take photos... ;)

  4. Thanks all. I was quite chuffed just to be so close.

The lochan was possibly about 30 metres (judging size isn't one of my strong points - come to think of it....) long so I suppose it wasn't very small but for a loch on the machair it's quite small.
