Stiltwalkers in Durham

When I was in Durham there was a real carnival atmosphere on the Saturday morning.  These stiltwalkers were making their way through the crowds and traffic.  I've seen plenty of stiltwalkers at parades in New Zealand but I can't recall seeing them in the UK before.

  1. Stiltwalkers are cool, but I also love seeing all these shots of old buildings. Not many in this part of NZ. And fewer still in the shakey quakey areas. Keep 'em coming GB!!!

  2. That's cheating - having them on the arms as well!

  3. They look great, very festive. But I have to agree with SS - I've never seen any with arms before.

  4. Looks like an invasion from outer space! I'm not sure if I've ever seen a stiltwalker IRL, certainly not this type.

  5. Magical costumes. Pity they didn't attack the cyclist. Lethal are cyclists on pavements.

  6. Regarding the arm stilts I'm not sure if the reduced likelihood of falling would compensate for the not being able to put your arms out in front of you if you did fall.
