It had to happen. Whilst at John and Sue's our job for the afternoon (it actually took us less than 90 minutes leaving plenty of time to do nothing) was to take down a tree planted around 13 years ago, the roots of which were posing a threat to the corner of the barn. We used simple hand-saws but the wood was so soft that it proved an easy task. It's always a great shame when any tree has to fall but it was planted with little thought to it's future size and effect. However it's not as if there's any shortage of trees in the vicinity (great woods of them actually and that doesn't take account of all the ones in the garden).
There were a few 'nests' of large twigs which looked more like platforms than proper nests and there was one small bird's nest
The roots having been severed the stump remains for the time being for hanging an outside shower
Glad it went well and that it was only the tree that fell...
ReplyDeleteOooh, I liked that dear little mossy woolly nest!
