It's 1am and All's Well

I am sitting in bed.  I'm cosy and warm.  I have Samantha on my lap.  I've been writing to a friend.  I should now go to sleep.  In fact if I don't I shall.  If you see what I mean.  I'm listening to Alkan's piano music.  I only discovered him in the last year or so and only started listening to him properly very recently.  Life is good.  In fact life is excellent.

  1. That sounds reassuring... I was asleep by then. Now it's morning and I'm in similar position (with laptop in bed). Already had breakfast but then decided on a continued lazy morning...

  2. I was up at 0545 to watch the Japanese Grand Prix. Bit of a disappointment in terms of interest but OK result.

Fabulous, cold, crisp morning with no wind. I might manage some garden clearing up. My neighbours - who would be really upset if I worked outside on a Sunday - are away. I would never upset them because they are the best neighbors in the world. But it's a bit limiting when a Sunday is the only good day in a week!

  3. And when your neighbours get back, you expect them to think it's little fairies that have been at work in your garden, or what...? :)

Around here I think people stopped caring about No Work on Sundays decades ago... But then I live in town... I don't have a garden, but even I did a little "work" on my balcony today and threw away a couple of withered plants...

  4. They are away for a week Monica. It's actually doing it in their face that concerns me. They know I work in my house and workshop nice and quietly. It doesn't offend them.

To me it's not about caring about no work Sundays. Even when I went to Church twice on a Sunday I was never a Sabatarian. The thing is that when I worked six days a week the garden was my relaxation and manual exercise away from my desk.

  5. Yes GB I think it is like that for most people in our urban society -seeing gardening as relaxation, I mean. It is not part of my own background either that hobby work should not be done on a Sunday. I do have friends for whom it was more like that in their childhood though. I remember one friend (this over 30 years ago) who was surprised to see me knitting on a Sunday, as she knew I went to church. I in turn had never heard anyone even expressing that thought before!

It seems to me you're a very good neighbour yourself, showing such consideration for those who might still take offense.
