Thankful Thursday

Well, as CJ has pointed out, it's Thursday again and that in itself is something for which to be thankful. He has a point in that any of us who are reading this have managed to survive since last Thursday.  In fact as at today I've managed to survive for 24,876 days so far.  That's quite a lot of days really.  I though that I might start working out things like the amount of time I've been asleep or on the loo or whatever but I decided that that would be altogether too much work considering that no one - not even I - would be interested in it.  I'm still a little short of the biblical three score years and ten which would take me to 25,606 days.  In fact I've still got 730 allotted days to go.  Not many in the greater scheme of things. The Bank was trying to get me to place some of my savings in long-term investments yesterday. I don't think so!

Last night we were invited to a BBQ with friends of many years' standing who often stay in the house here.  They're over in their camper van at the moment though and parked just by the shore below the house.  It was a very cold evening and quite breezy.  Not perfect BBQ weather.  However it kept the midges away and it didn't rain and the sun was out too.  We had the cheese and biscuits in the warmth after the beautiful steaks and eventually got home somewhere before midnight - hence the lateness of this post.

Pat is going to slay me for posting a photo with her in it but I'm feeling brave this morning.

So today I'm thankful for time with friends.

From my kitchen window

Sue and Pat posing - I love having a long focus lens on the camera!
Not a bad view for a BBQ!

  1. Thanks for that Graham! I would like to make it clear that I have numerous layers of clothing on underneath David's fleece - I am not normally that broad - I hope!! So now we need a picture of you, with about 8 layers on and a huge jacket over the top - dare you. See you later. x

    1. And who was saying how warm it was and making fun of me because I was wearing a down jacket (on top of a gilet and a shirt - 3 layers!)? I didn't take any photos of me but I've asked Sue for one when she can. Did you or Dave take any?

    2. I think you've escaped very lightly there GB - just don't try posting one of Jo without her censoring it first. You might not reach the following Thursday if you do.

  2. How lovely it looks. Your Hebridean pictures always seem to be coming from the edge of the world - and you do have a good time there!

    1. It feels like the edge of the world Jenny. Oh. Yes. It is the edge of the world. And, yes, I do have a good time here. I'm a very lucky person.

  3. How nice to get to see a photo of Pat. I does look a bit chilly though...

    1. Chilly doesn't begin to describe 11℃ with a wind-chill taking it down to about 4℃. That's not a typical Hebridean summer temperature! But id did keep the midges away.

  4. The scenery is lovely...so peaceful...if that is what you wake up to everyday, you have more than Thursdays to be thankful for.
Being an ex-banker, I can tell you that the service you were offered is not necessary in these times, so you made a great decision...who knows what securities games are being played out in secret as we speak?

    1. I am exceptionally lucky Virginia and the scenery can be astonishingly beautiful when the Scottish Highlands are visible with the rising sun behind them. I'm afraid that Banks have lost a lot of credibility over the last few years.

  5. I haven't visited in a little while :/ Shame on me, but we've both been busily living it seems - so much that we don't take the time in blogland for visiting much any more. I miss that.

Yes, this is a wonderful view for some eats!

    1. I try and catch up fairly often but I suspect that I have smaller Blog and FB worlds than you and a less busy life as well.

    2. I think we all have phases when 'real' life takes over. I know I'm in one at the moment, Heather, and if GB were not family I might not have visited here today!

  6. You are a hardy lot! No way would I be picnicing in those temperatures, no matter how lovely the view. Nice to see Pat after all this time!

  7. Such a brave lady, baring her legs in this kind of temperature!! I would have probably not left a 2-m-radius around the heating, or if I had to, only wrapped up in so many layers of clothing that you could have rolled me.
