NOTES FROM THE ISLE OF LEWIS IN SCOTLAND'S OUTER HEBRIDES AND ANYWHERE ELSE I HAPPEN TO FIND MYSELF
Oh, that is magnificent, Graham. What a glorious sight.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I was awake to see the sunrise this morning, the low cloud and heavy rain meant that there was nothing to see.
Looks gorgeous. Wet snow here and barely light so this image was much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful. This view is much needed this morning, as it's gloomy and wet here today.
ReplyDeleteOh, I needed to see that today Graham, thank you so much. x
ReplyDeleteWowzer! That is a stunning sunrise.
ReplyDeleteWonderful, and you were able to see it "live"! (I assume)
ReplyDeleteI am not sure it gets much better than this, Graham. I could try to add some descriptive prose but the picture speaks for itself.
ReplyDeleteReally gorgeous shot.
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
ReplyDeleteOh that is spectacular!
ReplyDeleteNow that's a view that might make me want to get up early rather than go straight back to bed in the morning...
ReplyDeleteAmazing photo and amazing scenery there Graham! I would love to stand on that horizon.
ReplyDeleteThank you, everyone. I think this is one of those posts that doesn't need individual responses.
ReplyDeleteSpectacular :)
ReplyDeleteYet more proof that heaven is actually Scotland. Or vice versa.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely! Great picture Graham. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletegreat colours
ReplyDeletein a word...."Glorious"!
ReplyDeleteStunning.
ReplyDeleteRed in the morning... heart lifting sunrise but how was the rest out the day out of interest? Did the old saying that it's a warning of rain hold true?
ReplyDeleteTigger, the rest of the day was good until the evening.

ReplyDeleteAlphie
Thanks, Alphie.
DeleteThe sea makes all the difference.
ReplyDeleteRachel, I would find it hard to live away from the sea.
DeleteYou are so right, this post with this stunning photo doesn't require individual replies from you. As anyone can clearly see it is amazingly beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSailboat on a Purple Sea - by Phil Lindsey
ReplyDeleteSailboat on a purple sea
Yellow skies are all she sees
Lonely Captain at the helm
Lord o’er all her ocean realm.
Sailboat on a purple sea
Sailing through Eternity
The yellow skies reveal her ardor
Searching for inlet or harbor.
Where she can safely drop her anchor
Without hostility or rancor
Stay forever, or a day
If on a whim she sails away.
To search again for other shores
Unmindful of the ocean’s mores.
Sometimes storms impede her course
Fill her journey with remorse
Thunder sounds a deaf’ning roar
Through driving rain, can’t see the shore
Lightning bolts around her flash
As if to call the Captain brash
For thinking that she has control
Over purple ocean’s vitriol.
If ever she regrets her plight
When yellow skies turn dark at night
And midnight storms have lead to loss
She rights the ship and bears the cross
And waits for morning dawn to break
Sun through last night’s rain will make
A rainbow reaching far away
Certainly it will show the way
To steer her sailboat that day.
Sailboat on a purple sea
Yellow skies are all she sees
Buoyant Captain at the helm
Lord o’er all her ocean realm.
Marcheline, I've come back yet again to read the words of Sailboat on a Purple Sea. The poem fascinates me.
DeleteFabulous! I don't do mornings so I can really appreciate it :)
