When you went into a shop or department store to but something like a waste bin or garbage/trash can and there might have been a choice between a plastic one and a stainless steel one. This is the choice in John Lewis in Liverpool:
And that appears just to be the metal ones. Perhaps they don't have plastic ones.
There was also a time when you went to the coffee shop to buy coffee. Nowadays, you can get anything there from jewellery to running shoes to kitchen utensils, and book your next holiday while you're there.
ReplyDeleteWhich one of the bins did you get?
Sorry, my browser was acting up so that my comment was published twice.
DeleteI didn't buy one Meike, I already have a stainless steel semi-circular one in the kitchen. I happened to be walking out of the huge new John Lewis department store in Liverpool where we had just had lunch when I saw these and couldn't resist the post opportunity.
DeleteNo wonder one sometimes feels that too much time is taken up by trivial choices these days :)
ReplyDeleteToo true Monica. It can make life quite hard though because one gets sucked into the process of choice.
DeleteThat's what I meant. With too much to choose from it's easy to get stuck and find oneself unable to decide.
DeleteWere I to be confronted with that display I'd just forget the idea and carry on using the bucket.
ReplyDeleteYou must be posh if you have a bucket!
DeleteJust occasionally Adrian I wish that life were that simple again. Just occasionally...!
DeleteBy and large my life is pretty simple.
DeleteAll about fashion and making your kitchen look good by the looks. Although.......a wall of plastic waste vessels could be considered a disaster for the planet I guess.
ReplyDeleteI suppose so Jaz but I like plain on the whole so my choice would be relatively (and only relatively) simple.
DeleteLook back......the plastic ones are on the shelf behind you.
ReplyDeleteThat is a wide selection to choose from....I like the first one on the left on the bottom shelf, if it's stainless steel.
They would certainly be somewhere not too far away I suspect Virginia. Although John Lewis is an expensive up-market department store so perhaps they have decided they don't dell the cheaper plastic ones.
DeleteNot much choice for those who have a pink kitchen!!"
ReplyDeleteIf one has a pink kitchen CJ one doesn't deserve a choice. Just a personal view.
DeleteWell, we also produce more trash these days... :(
