La La Land

I've not seen the film La La Land. It definitely seems to be a Marmite film.  YP loved it. Frances Garrood held quite the opposite view. I've been holding back on expressing a view until I've seen it. However at The BAFTAS this evening (the first time I have ever seen the BAFTAS) when I discovered that I had never even heard of most of the films mentioned, La La Land swept the boards. It seems that Marmite is definitely in favour at the moment. I shall watch it with interest.

  1. My sister and a friend of ours plan to watch it together. From what I'd read about the film before, I already thought it sounds like something I'd like, and YP's review only confirmed that.
    The Marmite comparison is good!

    1. Meike I definitely think it's a film to be watched with someone. It will be interesting to compare notes when we have seen it.

  3. I haven't heard the term Marmite movie. I'm thinking of meanings - you might love it or hate it? A bit dark and gooey? Not quite as good as a Vegemite movie? (You know I'm a Vegemite girl). Makes some folk smile and others want to throw up? Best with toast? the opposite of a jam movie? That's enough nonsense from me today, I have things to do. I'll keep an eye out for the movie.

    1. Pauline you hit the nail on the head: love it or hate it. As a lover of Marmite I'm waiting to see whether I love the film too.

  4. I'm looking forward to seeing it and have done since I first began reading about it. There are a lot of good movies around at present. "Manchester by the Sea" I'm looking forward to watching, too. I love Michelle Williams as an actress. She's quite wonderful. Even though her role in the movie is only brief, apparently, as always, she carries it out brilliantly.

    1. I shall keep an eye out for that film Lee. It's not one of which I had heard until a few days ago.
