I returned home 10 days ago and Anna came with me and has now returned home. My next visitors have called off because of Covid. The last few days I've been catching up with friends here and today I'm trying desperately to catch up with a myriad of emails and letters I owe people.
It's been hampered over the last few days by routine hospital and surgery appointments.
Today the weather is actually good enough to have gone into the garden to get some tidying and autumn/winter preparation done. That isn't going to happen until next week at the earliest though.
I have just been checking my spam folder and have discovered that, not only have some comments gone to Spam when they have been cleared but that my own comments have ended up in Spam too. I haven't looked yet but I suspect some have been duplicated because I though it was my poor memory and that I hadn't commented when, in fact, I had.
Technology is beginning to confound and irritate me.
No comments needed but hopefully I will write a meaningful post soon.
A number of us have experienced this with comments. During the 10 days I was away in September I later discoveted a number of published and replied to comments were later placed in Spam, including my replies.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rachel. I'm glad I'm not alone!
DeleteSorry your visitors are poorly. Seems like cases are on the rise again but an increase in the influenza family of viruses always happens at this time of year, I refuse to add this to the list of things the media want me to worry myself into a tizz over.
ReplyDeleteWell done for getting into the garden, I've made a start on autumn clearing up but the weather has been awful the last week or so.
Jayne, there is so much to do in the garden and so little suitable weather and time. C'est la vie.
DeleteGlad you are home. Sorry for the mess you found on Blogger.
ReplyDeleteChecking the spam folder is the rule now as more amd more people are having the problem. Something is glitching. Without changing anything or uploading a new version, Blogger is asking for comment verification again.
Be easy on yourself catching up. Enjoy the fall weather.
Thanks, Maywyn, for your thoughts.
DeleteThat spam thing is certainly strange. I find my own comments in there as well. Welcome home!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debby. Another one showing that I'm not alone.
DeleteNever easy to "catch up"
ReplyDeletewhen one has been out of one's usual routine for a while. Sometimes one just has to settle for jumping back in and carry on from there ;-)
Thanks, Monica. One thing that I can do with yours because of all the photos etc is as you say and just catch up even if I don't always comment.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteWell, YP, it was good to know that you'd been here even if you withdrew the comment.
DeletePS I. amended the heading. Thanks.
I also found recently that comments were going to spam. Weird!
ReplyDeleteVery odd, Red.
DeleteHope you catch up soon. Keep well. Technology can be so frustrating. I haven't checked my spam but who knows??
ReplyDeleteThanks, Diane. Hopefully I'll have a quietish weekend.
DeleteI recently found a couple of my replies to comments in my spam folder. What on earth are they up to? I now check my spam every morning.
ReplyDeleteCro, I had got into that habit but with being away and otherwise engaged I didn't do it for a while. Back again now.
DeleteHello there, Graham! When you are able to go back to the garden and do your tidying up, I wonder if you are like my Richard and say, "This will just take me a little while" and then, he is out there for hours! I am the same way. I went outside to just adjust a little pumpkin that I had put out for decoration and then, I saw some deadheading that was needed, and the bird bath needed fresh water, there were leaves to rake...that little pumpkin being moved took me over one hour! Hope it's not long til you are back in the swing of things. And that your comments are all received where they should be!
ReplyDeleteHello, Kay. Good to hear from you. I hope that all is good in your world now. I shall just take the garden as it comes now that Autumn is well established with the high winds etc.
DeleteJust getting to all of the medical appointments can be enough for the day! Don't worry about your gardens. Nature has a way of taking care of itself until we can get back out to tame it. Sometimes the overgrown look turns out to be lovely as unusual plants (weeds?) get to grow and bloom. Hope you are feeling well, Graham!
ReplyDeleteIndeed, Ellen, things do have a habit of taking care of themselves and I now have two areas where I have planted many wild flowers. I'm feeling very well thank you. I'm just back from the gym and it was a stark reminder of how unfit one can get after being away from proper exercise for a couple of weeks.
DeleteSame here with comments going to spam, every time i check my blog I have to approve comments. Covid is doing it's next wave here, finger crossed we don't get it.
ReplyDeleteAmy, I've just discovered that you were a blocked sender. I've removed the block but I've no idea how or why it got there in the first place. I do hope that Covid doesn't take hold with you or here again.
DeleteI'm almost to the stage where I've had enough of Blogger and ready to throw in the towel. Lack tech skills combined with lack of patience are not a good combo.
ReplyDeletePauline, I hope that you don't abandon Blogger. Despite the fact that I'm not the most regular of users I would miss it very much indeed.
DeleteSo much is so very trying of late. And I'm trying my hardest to keep a lid on my patience and frustration!
ReplyDeleteTake good care, Graham. :)
Lee, I hope that we all persevere. I'm not the most regular of readers but I'd really miss it if it went.
DeleteAs I do not reply to comments within my blog, I can't address the issue of them going to spam. But, I do check for spam on a daily basis and recently have found a couple that slipped through, but were quickly dispatched to trash. Hope your medical appointments were for nothing too serious, Graham, and hope your planned visitors have recovered and perhaps will visit at a future date. I enjoy blogging and can only manage no more then 2-3 times weekly, trying to keep up with others who blog far more often, daily for some, can be challenging at times.
ReplyDeleteBeatrice, I'm having difficulty blogging once or twice a month at the moment.
DeleteGraham I am happy to see your post of 20 October. I begin to worry when we don't hear from you as time goes on. By the way, Happy Birthday!
DeleteThank you, Jill. I'm hoping that when life quietens down I'll be in Blogland more often.
