  1. I don't understand what is meant by being over the rainbow. Does it mean up in the air. Myself I would rather be under the rainbow looking for the mysterious illusive gold!

    3. I did indeed take the shot, Mrs S. I think it must be one of the most universally known songs ever written.

  3. That is a picture perfect rainbow! It's been a long, long time since I've last seen one - we've simply not had rain often enough.

    1. This has been a summer of rainbows, Meike, although few have been perfect like this one.

  5. I read somewhere else that 'to have a rainbow you must have some rain'. Sort of keeps one looking on the bright side!

    1. Indeed, Potty, I'm sure that is the case or at least a great deal of moisture in the air. One of the things about the Hebrides is that it can be beautiful blue skies out of the windows one side of the house and dark clouds and rain out of the other windows.

    2. I like the FACT that, on average, a man with one hand on the hot stove and one hand in the deep freeze is comfortable. (Even though it may be a bit of a streeetch ).

    1. Jenny, there's a lot of it I can't remember but I always recall the last verse because of the silly idea if weighing a pie.

      Oh, somewhere over the rainbow
      Way up high
And the dreams that you dare to
      Why oh, why can't I?

    2. This reminds me of an English tourist in a pub in Biggar. He asked for a pint of Gillies Pies. It took the barmaid a good five minutes to work out that what he wanted was a pint of Gillespies.

  8. Perfect rainbow image... I saw a full rainbow from my kitchen window a while back but I couldn't get it all to fit into my camera! (and I know from before that I wouldn't be able to succeed much better if I went outside to try... rainbow-chasing in city environment is tricky!)

    1. Monica,I've just been trying to get a rainbow shot from my garden. The full rainbow was there but suddenly the centre disappeared. I used the panoramic facility when I shot the photo above. We are getting a plethora of rainbows at the moment.

    1. Thank you YP. Because they can be so transient I didn't even get my 'proper' camera out but captured that on my phone.

  13. Coming rather late to the party, what a lovey photo. I once took a photo of one my children half encircled by a rainbow, but I’ve no idea where it is (the photo, not the child).

    1. That's a shame, Frances. Better late than never, by the way.
