The Garden's Birds

A few days ago Pat and I saw a Merlin chasing a small bird into the hedging nearby.  Then I saw a Sparrowhawk chasing a pigeon (I think it was a pigeon) across the garden.  Yesterday I saw all the usual daily birds plus a Wren, two types of Pipets, a young Wheatear (I'm sure she's been around here since she fledged) and a Robin (who was too quick to be caught on camera)

Meadow Pippit
Young Sparrow who's trying to impress - 9 months early
Fuzzy Wren
Female Wheatear
I'm off to The Wedding on the lunchtime ferry and I'll be away for a while but hopefully I'll have plenty of blogging opportunities once the weekend is over.

  4. What great photos of birds! And I agree with DawnTreader above, that sparrow holding the feather is great.
Look forward to seeing pretty photos from the wedding. I am not a very girly girl really, but I do love weddings!

    1. Yes Kay the sparrow photo was quite fortuitous. If she was trying to impress a potential mate she failed and eventually she just dropped it and decided food was a better option.

  5. Wow, that's quite an assortment of birds to enjoy in your garden.
Now that I think about it, I guess I have quite a few different kinds that frequent my garden as well.
I kinda liked the Fuzzy Wren the best, only because that's how we girls roll with our bad hair days.
Enjoy the wedding, and wish the happy couple best wishes on my behalf.

As always, your animal photos are great. I am usually way too slow with my camera.

That sparrow - that photo of the sparrow is the most wonderful bird photo I have ever seen. Brilliant!
