Waterlilies

The rain it rained just as the first waterlilies of the season were making an effort to open in my pond:

The first waterlily of the season tries to make a show in the world but struggles as the rain starts
I found the raindrops clinging to the waterlily fascinating
And then came the really heavy rain and the patterns in the pond water
The waterlily seemed to be sinking in the boiling water

The Day of the Waterlily

A few days ago I posted a blog on Waterlilies. The last few days have not been conducive to flowers blooming but today has been quite a different story. It's been very warm and sunny and we've had very little wind until late afternoon. Despite that we've had no midges but that is completely irrelevant to the subject of waterlilies. One waterlily started to open this morning so I took a photo. An hour later it was a little more open and within a few more it was fully open; complete with resident fly.

Waterlilies

I have two waterlilies in the pond. When CJ came up in May it looked very much as though they were not going to flower this year. Before he left there were six buds and some have broken the surface and are waiting for some sun.
