Catherine and Wayne married some weeks ago and had their wedding reception, combined with a party to celebrate Catherine’s birthday. The party was held at The People’s Palace in Glasgow on Saturday 5 June. And what a party it was. I spent most of the ‘dancing time’ dancing with Catriona who discovered that rock and roll was a Good Thing. I was quite astonished that firstly my knee held out and that secondly Catriona had a limitless desire for being thrown around.

Catherine and Wayne with the wedding cake. Apparently this ‘Wedding Cake’ is all the rage in the UK. It’s the first one I’ve seen.
Just to prove that I don’t wear shorts and a polo shirt all the time
What a fun 'do' that looks! A very sensible cake too. And what a fabulous venue! Wow. I can see you in my mind's eye jiving around Geeb!
ReplyDeleteCupcakes are definitely the cake of the moment. I believe it started with a couple of shops in LA (Sprinkles I think) and London (I can think of the Hummingbird Bakery and Primrose Bakery to name just a couple). All the celebrities started eating cupcakes and then everyone else took on the craze after that. I've seen cupcake books in garden centres and when I put the word cupcake into books in Amazon it came back with 5711 results. Admittedly I didn't go through the entire list, but the first four pages definitely consisted of unique books on cupcakes.
ReplyDeleteThere are some pictures of some very pretty wedding cupcakes at

and my word verification is cakir!!
At handsome Groom and Beautiful Bride - with such a lovely, and very happy smile. Then they choose a special place for family and friends to join in and celebrate.
ReplyDeleteDear GB - You look very fine.
Those tellin gyou of the winter temps here haven't added the details of the sweeping Antarctic Southerly gale force winds with rain, sleet and hail that keep finding their way along "the East Coast" of the North Island.
Whichever side - Wellington "cops it"
Please do remind those kiwis that they will seldom find such long days of light over here in Summer.
Hope you're knee is still okay,
Michelle/Mickle and my daft Zebbycat, all battened down and ready for the next southerly (already late compared to the forecast!!!)
You look so distinguished GB! Such a beautiful building too, isn't it? Looks like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteFancy this :)
ReplyDeleteI couldn't get over how HUGE the building was in comparison to the tiny little people in that second photo. What a magnificent place to be.
I rather like the wedding cake...mmmmmmm, yummy.
And, you. Look at you, all proper like. Very nice. Your girls look like they are having fun, very pretty, Wendy - in her blue dress.

ReplyDeleteThat certainly is a splendid building for such a splendid occasion. Love the Dancing Kiwis! And didn't you scrub up well?
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind comments.
ReplyDeleteI spent my career in smart suits to create the allusion that I knew what I was talking about and in an attempt to inspire confidence. After I retired suits became history for me. Occasionally I think we all feel the need to dress up. I confess that I enjoyed the opportunity.
I don't think I've ever been in a more splendid venue for a wedding 'do'. I'm not sure, however, that it would be a good place in the sort of weather that Michelle is having at the moment though.
Thanks Helen. I had absolutely no idea.
Really looks like a great place for a wedding reception - lots of room to "breathe"! ;) Glad you had a good time!
