I did wonder about that katherine because we don't usually have cold winters and the last one was the coldest since the early 80s.Graham Edwardshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11196744947133121475noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6784891745623390957.post-58406401905572949542010-05-21T08:33:09.087+01:002010-05-21T08:33:09.087+01:00Perhaps it enjoyed the cold winter.Perhaps it enjoyed the cold winter.Katehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12453125929159161583noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6784891745623390957.post-23362857120927678612010-05-21T08:21:26.098+01:002010-05-21T08:21:26.098+01:00Actually we don't have much gorse on the Islan...Actually we don't have much gorse on the Island. But then we don't have much arable land which is suitable for it. Our wild land forming the majority of the Island is boggy moorland and it doesn't seem to grow there. And it only looks nice for a short while even though it flowers much of the year. In fact this is the first spring I can recall it looking so splendid.Graham Edwardshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11196744947133121475noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6784891745623390957.post-22598044441597269902010-05-21T07:23:49.785+01:002010-05-21T07:23:49.785+01:00Have to agree with Katherine. I remember back in the 70s seeing a whole hillside covered in it and it did look cheerful. Also recall another hillside covered in heather and it was so beautiful. But it, too, had to give way to productive farmland.Paulinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15276284964859313257noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6784891745623390957.post-86771835275973910322010-05-21T00:25:08.096+01:002010-05-21T00:25:08.096+01:00Although that yellow is very cheery, I find it har...Although that yellow is very cheery, I find it hard to like gorse, given the problem it in in NZ ... but it seems to look at home in your pics.Katehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12453125929159161583noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6784891745623390957.post-50521963413473679092010-05-20T19:54:54.382+01:002010-05-20T19:54:54.382+01:00Good to see that you have a few flowering trees on...Good to see that you have a few flowering trees on that island! :) There aren't a lot of them on Lewis, are there? The open landscape I see in your pictures is beautiful, I love watching sky and sea... but I think I'd miss trees...DawnTreaderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13956409908791716009noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6784891745623390957.post-42261588338699667872010-05-20T16:35:31.423+01:002010-05-20T16:35:31.423+01:00A ruggedly beautiful place!A ruggedly beautiful place!shabby girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03991126161405336712noreply@blogger.com
