Up at crack of dawn for an early start for the market in Siena. One of our number is not so good this morning so the youngsters have skidadled leaving us to follow on. It's given us a bit of quiet downtime on what is turning out to be a wonderful morning: the first real sun since we arrived in Switzerland five days ago. The View early this morning looked very hopeful.
That view is spectacular no matter what weather, but this lighting is particularly beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIf you go to Siena, maybe you'll have time to visit the Museo del Duomo. There is a sculpture I have never forgotten, although it is nearly 30 years ago since I've seen it:

Somehow, it has stayed in my mind.
We have been to Siena, Meike. It was much more crowded then when I was there 20 years ago. We didn't get to the Museo del Duomo. In fact the queue for tickets was such that I didn't go inside the Duomo this time at all. Although it is spectacular I don't actually like the inside. I would like to have visited the Museo though and I have made a note for the next visit.
DeleteGoodness - is that picture for real? It looks like a painting. Just beautiful. After the dreadful day we had yesterday it is a pleasure to see the sun out here again.
ReplyDeleteTuscan landscapes so often look more like pictures than reality, Pat. I'm glad that we both are having some sun. It was in the 30s yesterday. Wonderful.
DeleteLooking like it's going to be a beautiful day for you GB...enjoy.
ReplyDeleteHope your friend feels much better to enjoy the day too.
Have to mention that I'm always talking about "skidadled", never had to write it though, but now that I actually see the word written, it looks so strange.
Our language is full of these odd words is it not Virginia. We also seem to have quite a lot of words in common that our US neighbours don't use.
DeleteA painting. Breath-taking. I want to paint it.
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing your Hawkes Bay landscape I'm sure that you'd be able to tackle Tuscany more successfully than many of the paintings in the Galerie D'arte here.
DeleteLooks so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIs beautiful!
DeleteA photo? a painting ? So hard to tell, but very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIn reality Jaz it's a sort of cross between the two because it's several photos combined.
