Daffodils

For almost ten years I was fortunate enough to experience continual summers in Scotland and New Zealand. One of the things I rarely saw was daffodils. Frances used to take pity on me and show photos. Well today all my daffodils were brought sharply into focus by the snow squalls that blew through with 30mph winds. Why? Because within 30 minutes of the last squall the sun was out again. That's the Hebrides for you. These are my daffodils:

  1. How lovely! Ours are almost over, but I still buy myself £1 bunches from the supermarket. This year, I've had them since early January.

    1. Mine have been flowering for a while Frances. The crocuses are finished but there are plenty more bulbs to come.

  2. What a lovely display of colour. I'm glad the snow blew away quickly! :) We have some daffodils in bloom in sunny spots but most of them have not opened out yet around here. So we still have that to look forward to!

  3. They are beautiful flowers...simple, but beautiful. Often the simplest is the most beautiful.

  4. The yellow would certainly brighten up any day. Our daffodils are not blooming yet.

  5. These are the promise of summer to come. Even before them may be the Crocus!

    1. Lisa the crocuses are past and gone in my garden. I do hope you are right about a summer this year. We didn't really have one last year.

  6. We planted most of our Daffs around the bases of fruit trees. This year they all grew as usual, but with only ONE flower; all the rest produced just 'leaves'. The weather I imagine!

    1. How very odd Cro. I move lots of my bulbs last year but I've not had any problems like that - so far touch wood.

  7. Some Daffies are still around in people's gardens, especially in less sunny spots, but I am very pleased to report that my cherry tree has begun to show its first pretty white blossoms and tender baby-green leaves!
It's a wonderful time of year under so many aspects, and I am glad you have your very own patch of yellow daffodils and red tulips to enjoy.

    1. Meike that's wonderful- the blossom. I have no trees bearing blossom and if there were the first gale would clear it.

    1. Is it too hot Virginia? That's a shame because they are so fresh.
