Meadow Pipits

The Meadow Pipits have been very much in evidence in the garden this year.  Today the whole family and their friends came for a play in the pool.

    1. Yes they seem too be totally un-phased by it all. Odd because if I step on the gravel near the pond they all disappear instantly. And I'm their easy food source!

    1. They are wonderful birds, Lisa, because they flit all over the place like little sprites chasing moonbeams. I love them.

  3. Looks like they were enjoying themselves. So cute sitting on the water lily leaves like that. I bet you were enjoying yourself too, watching them with the camera... Thanks for sharing!

    1. I've never seen birds having such a whale of a time. I was inside the house so these shots were taken through double glazed windows as well.

  5. Delightful shots. They bring to mind the expression, "as happy as a frog on a lily pad."

    1. When CJ has been wandering the garden in the middle of the night he's heard frogs plopping into the pond but despite the huge number of tadpoles I've not seen a frog in the pond for several years.

  7. These birds are soooooo CUTE......I love the markings on the feathers, and the pattern of the wings when opened.
They were really having a great time...especially the one in photo #7 who looks like he's on the synchronized diving team.
Splendid photos as usual....taken through double glazed windows and all (spoken with a hint of jealousy)
    One of these days.......

    1. I'm very fortunate to have the subjects right under my nose Virginia and they really did seem to be enjoying themselves. It's not something I usually associate with birds. They are usually too busy feeding.
