Just a Thought

CJ has just said to himself "That is not what I set out to do this morning.".  I have come to the conclusion that that shall be on my headstone.  Or would be if I were to have a headstone.  Being of the view that I would prefer my ashes to be scattered a headstone is unlikely.  In any event I'd rather it wasn't something that had to be considered before I've had the opportunity to reduce my Association Croquet handicap a bit further.   Anyway to get back to CJ's statement.  Most mornings I get up pretty early with every intentions of 'getting things done'.  I usually have a list because I'm a pretty organised person.  At least that is how I see myself.  Does it ever work out that way?  No.  Why not?

The answer is probably ARADD (Age Related Attention Deficit Disorder) or, as shown in this YouTube video Age-Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.  Leastways that's my excuse.  Of course if you read the serious stuff then you will see that ADHD is a problem with inattentiveness, over-activity, impulsivity, or some combination of these and if you keep on reading the serious stuff then you will get very depressed - I can guarantee that.   Fortunately I couldn't concentrate hard enough to get to the end so remained happy and unaware.

You see even this post is a good example of ARADD.  When I started out it was to be a post about Virginia in Barbados but CJ did have to go and say "That is not what I set out to do this morning."

Thinking about it further "That is not what I set out to do this morning." would be rather apt for a headstone.  After all not many of us who wake up with a list of intentions in the morning usually have death on our list.  Not even Batty *.

And by way of adding a bit of colour to this post here is a picture of a little arachnid in my pond.  It's a Water Mite and is about 2.5mm long in real life ie tiny!

Water Mite
*  For those who don't know the film Bladerunner: Batty: "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die."

    1. Yes I'd seen it before and, in fact, I've also seen a better one but I couldn't find it.

  2. Love it, love it, love it! NOW I know why the current novel is stuck at 27,000 words ( where it's been for weeks). Is there a cure?

    1. Yes, Frances. If you write some more then get writers block again you'll be stuck further on. Or where you talking about a cure for writers' block. If so I've no cure. I've never been able to write enough to get block.

  3. GB, I received that AAADD video via email a while ago, and found it sounded quite familiar.
When I get up in the morning I have a list in my head of everything I want to accomplish for that day. I go to bed at night, and in trying to fall asleep I am mentally ticking off the stuff that I did accomplish for the day, sometimes it's just a few items or none at all.....yet I was VERY BUSY during the day, doing all sorts of stuff....lots of stuff that was not on the list. It's really bad if you're a gardening person, we all know how that goes.
I have started looking for a "fancy spancy" camera online, since I want to be able to see the 2.5mm water mites we have here in Barbados...stop teasing me with those great photos.
I have told my daughter that I want to cremated, but she says that I'll already be dead so she will do with me what she wants...the nerve of these children that we brought into the world!!

    1. I should sincerely hope that if you are going to be cremated you will be dead Virginia. The habit that some widows in India have of throwing themselves on the funeral pyre of their husband is not one I would feel comfortable with. In fact it was made illegal as far back as 1829 but some people still risk prosecution and self-immolate in the way that the god Sati did. Mind you if you are successful prosecution seems rather a pointless attempt at deterrent.

    2. My daughter is referring to the fact that since I will already be dead, she can bury me or cremate me or whatever she feels like, since I won't be able to have a say in the matter at that point.
Now I'm off to learn about the widows in India and the god Sati..thanks GB

  4. That creature is too big even on my mobile phone screen! Are you trying to give me nightmares?! My plan today was to do nothing but I couldn't even stick to that...

  5. I know I started reading this yesterday. For some reason I've only just got to the end. Says it all really...

P.S. To Whom It May Concern - Please note, Death is definitely not on my list of things to be done today.

  6. What a wonderful colour! (the arachnid)
Yes, your post is starting to feel a little bit familiar the more I think of it. Because I set out to catch up on my correspondence this morning, and here I am reading blogs. Better get back to the task in hand!

    1. I've come to the conclusion that blogging is far too often my task in hand. If I just stuck at it for shorter periods and stopped wandering off then I'd spend less time overall in Blogland.

  7. I'm so jealous of your camera. What type is it again?

    1. Oops. I apologise for not answering that question more promptly Katherine. It's a Sony DSC-HX100V bridge camera with a 30x lens and built in GPS which stamps the location on the metadata.
