One Man and His Dog

Yesterday I was lured into a walk down the croft to the shore with David and Molly.  I am ashamed to say that it's the first time I've done that since I returned to Eagleton about 5 weeks ago.   I was not, at first, for going yesterday either.  With a wind registering Force 6 (around 40 kph) from the North East and therefore very very cold I was definitely in wuss mode.  However sanity prevailed (reminding me of a Laura Brannigan song) and I decided to be kind to my body and get the exercise.  The fact that I might get some photos didn't even cross my mind (and if you believe that.....).  After an hour or more we returned cold and tired but invigorated ready for nut, olive and wine time.  It's a hard life.

Come and get it!

Heading it off at the pass.   If you are wondering Molly got to it first.

No.  It went that away

Jumping for joy

"It's behind you!"

    1. So true Monica. I have no idea how she didn't feel the cold in the sea.

    1. Lisa, I think all three of us were having a great time in our own way.

  3. You should do it more often - that was just a gentle breeze down there then!

    1. You are right of course and it's good and healthy but, without a dog to give purpose to the exercise, it takes effort!

    2. No excuse my dear friend. You can always "borrow" Briagha. She is always game for run on the beach!

  4. You know I was just complaining that it was showering yesterday and my husband was laughing at me and telling me to call home to Scotland and see how much sympathy I got for complaining about our June Gloom.

  5. Fabulous, fabulous photos, full of life. I felt as if I was there with you. What a sense of immediacy and delight! I don't know which are my favourites, but "handbrake turn" and "four paws in the air" do stick in my mind. Are you going to print them out, frame them and put them on the wall? I think I would

I am sure that the olives and drinks were much more welcome than they would have been otherwise too.

I too am sometimes hard to prise out of the house, but every single time I drag myself out, I end up seeing something interesting, and end up feeling better than if I'd stayed at home.

Oh, and looking again at your pictures, I must also add that I love the clear, silvery colours of the sea and sand.

    1. Thanks Jenny. I nearly didn't go but I'm so glad that I did. A beautiful sunny day might have produced better clarity in the photos (which were taken at full 30x 810mm equivalent) but I wasn't disappointed. I would like one of those constantly changing digital photo frames because I have no room on my walls because of pictures and books and so on.

  6. Beautiful - beaches without a dog never seem as much fun to me, unless it is somewhere like Fiji when I can indulge in cocktails and sun...
    Beautiful day.
Might give it a miss myself today - our cars were iced over by 9.00 last night and it looks like it has snowed we have so much frost today.

    1. 'My' beach is usually pretty quiet except for dog walkers unless the weather is exceptional when the local children come down and pier jump and, occasionally, just about everyone brings their boats, sail boards and just about every other piece of leisure apparatus. I have some difficulty thinking of Christchurch with snow and ice only ever having seen it in the summer.

  10. Ahh, dogs know how to have fun when the humans are well trained. These are great smile inducing shots, can see how much the dog is enjoying herself.
