Cliff Beach Revisited

Cliff1

At Adrian’s suggestion I’ve sharpened this image.  I am surprised at the difference.  I think I might give the originals to Gaz or Adrian and leave them to come up with the definitive version.

  1. It's a great shot, GB. What a gorgeous view - those rocky hills are impressive!

  2. That's better, No good giving pictures to me or Gaz....You would end up with two definitive versions, three with yours.
Best to sharpen after you have compressed for the web, make sure image is at 100% or more, push till halos appear then back off 10% or 20%. All digital images are soft. This is much better

  3. Ahh, yes, I can see the difference. But something of the soft, mystical quality has been lost I think, but what would I know? Adrian does give such great advise but I can never completely understand it. Obviously you can!

It is a glorious photo both before and after!

  4. Great shot. I Love Cliff beach and the flowers look fantastic. Great framing with the grass. Amazing how almost tropical it looks on the odd occasion the sun actually shines.

Does look better sharpened up a bit. Adrian's right about definitive images. It will only be what we individually think brings out the best in an image.

This is a great shot because it makes me a little bit home sick and you can't ask for much more than that.

  5. I think what I'd do (which does not mean it would be the "right" thing to do) would be to increase shadow effect (in Picasa). Find myself doing that quite often now to bring out the colours in pictures taken in bright daylight. But it really depends on what effect you want, Pauline has got a point about the "soft, mystical quality" too. (I still think it's a gorgeous photo in both versions.)

  6. Fantastic foreground shot, I never would have thought about using that subject material.
