1 EAGLETON NOTES: I'm A Sony Man Too Now.

I'm A Sony Man Too Now.

It arrived late yesterday afternoon.  My new camera. I've not really had an opportunity to use it yet but I had to go to town today so, naturally, it came with me.  It is very intuitive and much easier to use than the Olympus although the eyepiece (which I uses a lot) is smaller.  So far I am delighted.  I met Pat for coffee at the Woodlands Centre which, despite the rain, looked quite picturesque in it's autumnal frame.  I even had a quick try of the panoramic function in the third image.  The cormorants were quite far out at sea on the Braighe so I was pleased with the definition.

  2. Not much wrong with these. Panorama is impressive for out of camera. Is there a bend in the dock wall? I get this effect sometimes hand stitching if the tripod isn't level. It's managed exposure really well. Enjoy it.

  4. May it bring you much joy. You've already done more with the panorama than I have. Must remember to use it next time I'm out. Not that I have such scenery to play with!

  6. Congratulations on the camera! The autumn colour pictures from the Woodland Centre are beautiful and I really like that panorama picture.

  7. Thanks all. I think Sony and I are going to get along just fine.
Adrian: It was the very first unedited and rather, as you said, bowed panorama I tried. Hopefully I'll improve.

  9. GB I love panoramas, don't know how your system works but I find that including foreground causes problems so zoom in. Can't really recall Stornoway Harbour accurately but is the image flipped, looks like the marina on the right? To really test the system try shooting a roundabout as in roads and then something with little contrast a rainy seascape. That should give you an idea of the limits. Looks good though. Exposure and levels are very impressive CS3 can't manage that.

  10. I think even my little camera is supposed to have some kind of panorama function in it... according to the book... I never tried it.

  11. Adrian: When the camera is in Panorama mode there is no scope for altering the lens from its pre-set position which is wide angle.

Monica: I think it would be worth trying if you got the chance. Sometimes a panorama can be just what is needed. Doubtless I'll overdo it for a while. Especially when I get to New Zealand.
