Art in Metal

When CJ, Jo and I went to Carr Farm recently I went into one of the shops there and saw some quite amazing pieces of art in metal.  I could quite happily have bought a few of them but one immediately took my fancy.  Fortunately it was before I saw the one with the green fish or the huge one of sailing boats.

When I got it home I realised that the place which I had allocated to it in my mind was completely unsuitable and I then had the problem of finding it a home.  Given the number of pictures that I have stowed away because of a lack of wall space it seemed inconceivable that I would buy a new piece and have nowhere to put it.  The onlt suitable place seemed to be on a door!  A door?  How can you hang an artwork on a door?  Well I did.  And I'm really pleased with the result.

  4. Very nice one! Looks good on the door, too. I saw some more of these at CJ's blog a few days ago... (a couple of them still fresh in my memory,,, a saxophone with music notes, and then there was one in white-blue-mother-of-pearl-ish colours...)

  5. I'd be pleased with this too. Hang it the other side and provide a small gavel, instant door bell, green as well, no electric.

  6. Yes. CJ fell in love with them too.

Doorbell? What's a doorbell? In this neck of the woods (and in my N Z pad) people just walk in and yell 'Hello'. In fact they don't always yell. Sometimes they put the kettle on and then look for you.

  7. I'm so glad that it's not just us that buys artwork thinknig we know where it's going only to find it won't!

We bought a lovely framed photo while on Skye and thought it would go brilliantly in the bedroom. It's currently back in it's bubble wrap in the lounge.

  8. Completely off topic I know... but why on earth do you have so many switches so high up on your wall?!

  10. Security system? Doorbells? Sorry Adrian. We're on different planets!

Actually they are the switches etc that control the bathroom's various functions including the underfloor heating, fan, lights, power shower and spa bath. See A Spa Bath to Ease Aching Limbs

It's the one semi-luxurious room in the house.
